What the pool does with it

A liquidity pool holds the coin on one side and SOL on the other, and the price is the ratio between them. When tom's sell lands, the program takes the SOL side of that trade and deposits it into the pool rather than sending it to tom. The deposit is single sided, so the pool simply gets deeper on the SOL side. The receipt token that would let someone withdraw that liquidity is burned in the same transaction.

Deeper liquidity means the same size trade moves the price less. Every time tom capitulates, the next trader's buy or sell has slightly less effect on the chart. Over many round trips the coin becomes heavier to move in both directions, and the only thing paying for that is tom being wrong.

Nothing here is a buyback and nothing here is a burn of the coin. The coin tom sells goes to whoever bought it from him. The SOL is what gets locked. This page only counts what has actually landed on chain.
